Acuity Medical has assembled a team of scientific advisors with a broad range of skills in medicine, scientific research, clinical and regulatory process and FDA experience.

Dr. John B. Jarding, OD, FAAO

Dr. Jarding is the founder and  Chairman of the Board of Acuity Medical. He has over 34 years of experience in a broad range of areas within the field of optometry, specializing in vision loss. His work has included research, consulting, and private practice as well as management level positions in clinics. Recognized for his expertise in the area of AMD, he holds a patent for device and  technique in the treatment of AMD and has led several studies related to the treatment of AMD. He is frequently a featured speaker for conferences focused on vision loss, aging, and optometry.  For the last three years, he has served as an Adjunct Clinical Professor for Pacific University of Optometry and Illinois College of Optometry. He holds a Doctor of Optometry degree and a BS in Vision Science.  Dr. Jarding is currently practicing at the VA Medical Center at Fort Meade South Dakota

Joseph F. Dyro, Ph.D.

Dr. Dyro is in private consulting practice specializing in clinical engineering, medical device design and safety.  He is currently Editor, Journal of Clinical Engineering.  He was formerly Director of Biomedical Engineering, University Medical Center @ StonyBrook, NY.  Prior to that he was Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, State University of New York School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree at MIT in electrical engineering and  post graduate degrees at University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Dyro is recognized as an expert in biomedical engineering, and physiological effects of electricity in device applications.

Joshua Sharlin, Ph.D.

Dr. Sharlin is President of Sharlin Consulting located in Washington, D.C. He acts in an advisory capacity to the Acuity Medical in the areas of regulatory affairs, protocol development, design and execution of clinical studies.  Dr. Sharlin assisted the Company during its FDA feasibility trial.  Prior to his consulting practice, he as employed as a drug reviewer with the Food & Drug Administration.  He received his doctorial degree from the University of Georgia and his masters from the University of Maryland.
